Hi, I've been annoyed with something for some time now, but I realized that there might be a way for me to customize the interface and get rid of my problem. Example: I have a channel with a Multi-Out VST instrument on it. I have a few midi tracks routed to that track. It routes audio to a few tracks. Now... I don't use the channel with the Multi-Out explicitly. Because my midi is routed from other tracks (so I don't need the multi-out track armed) and it doesn't itself output audio to Mixout (the output tracks does that). Basically my only reason for having the channel visible is so that I can click the insert VST so I can get to edit the instrument. That's it, perhaps monitoring meters of midi activity (as in narrow mode) is motivated, but that's it. So I can't hide the track (because it doesn't give me quick access to open the vst) and it seems a waste of space to display it like a regular channel. I tried to select the Mixer-panel-style for that track as "Narrow", and it is almost perfect, apart from the fact that it doesn't display the insert! So in conclusion: Is it possible to get the track with the "Narrow" style and display the single insert? That would be awesome. Actually I think there should be a default mixer panel for this, since it is such a common situation. Maybe the single insert would be click-able by one of the icons included in reaper? So if I have my drum machine VST I would just click the drum machine icon on top of that channel etc... Who know's... Thanks in advance! Make me love Reaper even more! :D
RE: Mixer panel, Narrow style but displaying inserts?
I confused "Narrow" with the style of "Recording meter" for mixer track panels. But the suggestion stays. It should look like "Recording meter" but with a clickable insert on top.

RE: Mixer panel, Narrow style but displaying inserts?
Just as an info: you can also open your inserted FX by right-clicking the FX button (left of the I/O button) and choose your plugin in the context menu. As of the layout, it's a change of a single line in the rtconfig file of that theme. WT decided that the narrow mixer layout shall show inserts/sends only when the mixer is pretty high, so he added the line Code:
RE: Mixer panel, Narrow style but displaying inserts?
Great tips gofer, I will try it when I get home! I tried to edit the files you talked about, this morning. But ran into problems, i deleted the lines I didnt want instead of setting them to zero as you suggest. So i was wrong. Two questions: can we create a new mixer panel or can we only edit the ones we are given? Second, when I duplicated the default theme and unpacked it, it containd tje right images etc, but when I load the unpacked theme in reaper i get the style of the version 1 theme (although I select image folder connected to unpacked theme) why did this happen?
RE: Mixer panel, Narrow style but displaying inserts?
I wasted a good few hours last night with this... with weird results. I'll just have to live with it until someone that knows Walter and understand the need for a multi-out mixer panel makes it accessible to the average user.
